Grafton Street Development –
Innovative use of Geo-thermal heating and cooling
system
CIL Affordable Housing Inc. will be constructing 5 new
two-family homes on Grafton Street in the Behind the
Rocks neighborhood. The first floor unit will be
adaptable for accessibility and have 1,034 square feet
with living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, 2
bedrooms and 1 bath. The second and third floor
townhouse style unit will have 1,690 square feet with
living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, 3
bedrooms and 2 baths. Upgrades will include geothermal
heating and central cooling systems. The homes will be
constructed in 2 phases, 3 two-family units completed in
2007 and the remaining 2 in 2008. The rental unit will
be for a family at 50% of median income or less. The
City has supported this project by providing the
property with Appraisal Gap Financing to enhance the
development along with other financial supporters
including LISC, CDFI Alliance and CT Housing Trust Fund.

and School Streets
Southside
Institutions Neighborhood Alliance (SINA) is pleased to
announce the start of construction for Cityscape Homes
Phase IV will begin in the fall of 2007. Phase IV will
consist of 8 two family and 10 single family homes all
located on Colonial and School streets in Hartford’s
Frog Hollow neighborhood. The newly constructed homes all
feature “Energy Star” rated appliances, blown in foam
insulation and high efficiency gas boilers. Energy
conservation measures were all made possible by
Hartford
’s Appraisal GAP program. For additional information
