The Office of Emergency Management and its Director coordinates an emergency planning process that supports the goal of saving lives and protecting property through the maintenance of emergency operational capabilities that mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from any emergency or disaster.

The Director of Emergency Management advises the Mayor concerning emergency planning and related laws, rules, and regulations and performs functions of the director as set forth in Connecticut General Statutes.
