Large Multi-Use Parks

Bushnell Park is a popular park located in the center of downtown Hartford. The facilities include a playground area , walking paths with reare exotic trees, pond and a carousel. Click on photos below to see larger view.

Elizabeth Park is located two-and-one-half miles from the city center, along Asylum Avenue. The park is divided into two portions by Prospect Avenue, which separates Hartford from West Hartford. The East Lawn comprises 19 acres of open space with a treed border, while the West Hartford section consists of 82 acres and contains diversified elements. Elizabeth Park is the first municipally owned rose garden in the U.S. More than 900 varieties and 14,000 rose bushes are displayed during the summer months. Outdoor concerts during warm weather.
