Council On Homelessness

In January, Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez asked his commission, made up of key members of the public, private, and non-profit sectors, to come up with recommendations to end chronic homelessness in the Hartford region by 2015. The fruition of the commission’s efforts will be outlined when a strategic plan is presented to the Mayor on Tuesday, June 21st.

Chronic homelessness is a pervasive problem in Hartford and throughout the country. Many of those who are chronically homeless are not only afflicted by poverty, but also by conditions such as mental illness and substance abuse.
