Minimum Height requirement at all pools is 42”.
*All swimmers must obey the rules. 
 *Wear bathing suits and bring a towel.  
*No food or drink is allowed in any locker rooms or pool.  
*Lockers are available.  *Bring your own lock and keep all valuables at home.  *The City of Hartford is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Family swim: Parents must register with the Head lifeguard.  Parent must stay with child.

SHERO (Strong, healthy, educated, responsible, outstanding young women) & HERO (Healthy, educated, responsible, outstanding young men.) A positive youth development program ages 11-14.  It is a twelve-session program focusing on topic areas of positive role models, peer pressure, decision making, relationships, sex, families, responsibilities, & more.  Graduation ceremonies follow completion of 12 sessions.  For more information for SHERO & HERO call Martha Jackson at 722-6502.

Text Box: Hartford Commission on youth is comprised of three students from each of the city’s High Schools & three at-large, for a total of fifteen.  Students act as advisors on many issues to the Youth Services Division.  They perform numerous community services, including assisting with youth
conferences and workshops of interest.

The City of Hartford cannot be responsible for loss of valuables and/or personal property in any of the centers, gyms, pools or school facilities while in our use or while participating in any of our programs or activities.  Participants may bring a lock to secure personal belongings in a locker at Pope Park or Kelvin D Anderson Center Pools. Leave valuables at home! Kids need to watch their coats & bookbags.  Bring only what you need.

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission is presently comprised of 15 members.  The Commission meets at 6pm on the last Thursday of the month at City Hall in the Council Chambers. The first 15 minutes of the meeting are set-aside for the public.  Any parks or recreation subject matter maybe shared during that forum.    Call 543-8876 to ask to be put on the agenda or drop in at the meeting. 

Text Box: All programs & facilities are closed on normal major & national holiday’s i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years etc.  Our policy at the school sites is, when school is closed, our programs are closed.  This includes holidays and days when school has been cancelled due to bad weather.  City centers program/event cancellations due to bad weather or other emergency situations will be announced on WTIC am/fm and Channel 3.
