MISSION STATEMENT

TO HELP PEOPLE HELP THEMSELVES AND ENJOY LIFE IN HARTFORD

Consist of three operational units which are responsible for the supervision of central managerial functions of the department and our office of Cultural Affairs. 

DIRECTOR'S OFFICE  : Manages the human resources / payroll functions and oversees the overall direction of the department.

FISCAL OPERATIONS : Manages the financial resources, revenues & reimbursements, systems and equipment, budget and fiscal reporting.    

QUALITY CONTROL   : Monitors and evaluates program contractors to assure quality of services.

CULTURAL AFFAIRS :

Cultural Affairs is responsible for administering art programs provided to Hartford residents by the Department of Human Services.

This office co-administers the Evelyn Preston Memorial Trust Fund with the funds trustee, Fleet Bank. The trust provides money for free summer concerts to take place throughout the City of Hartford.

THE MANAGEMENT OF TWO ART GALLERIES:

The Pump House Gallery,  a 750 square feet art space, located in the southeast corner of Bushnell Park, features nine juried exhibitions annually plus special exhibits. All Connecticut artist are eligible to apply for an exhibit. 

The Director's Gallery, located in the administration building of the Department of Human Services, 2 Holcomb Street, second floor, provides space for emerging artists.
