Professional Affiliations

The Office holds an institutional membership in the Government Finance Officers Association of Connecticut (GFOA-CT) and the National Association of Local Government Auditors (NALGA).   All auditors are members of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).  Additionally, some auditors maintain personal memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

As members of these professional organizations we are required to adhere to certain professional standards and we are bound by their codes of ethics. We participate in professional development programs in an effort to maintain and improve our auditing proficiency and stay current with auditing and accounting issues. Many of the programs we attend are sponsored by these professional organizations. We are required to attend a minimum number of credit hours of continuing professional education each year.
