HARTFORD RANKS 3RD MOST IMPROVED CITY IN NATIONWIDE CRIME STUDY

Some reports of the ranking of Hartford as 24th in the top 25 "Most Dangerous Cities" in the 12th Annual Morgan Quitno Crime in Metropolitan America study failed to mention that Hartford ranked 3rd nationwide in the "Most Improved Cities" category in the same study.  I thought as residents, business owners, and employees you would like to know this information and have the opportunity to view the entire report if you so desired.  Below is an excerpt, page 20, of the report which confirms the 3rd most improved nationwide ranking of the city of Hartford.

In commenting on the report, Chief Harnett said, "There are many variables involved when you compare the safety climate from one city to another.  Summary statistics alone are not enough.  Be that as it may, if you are going to go by pure numbers in measuring public safety, then Hartford's ranking as the third most improved city in the nation is a good trend we intend to build upon.  To be the third most improved municipality in the nation with respect to crime is significant.  However, our goal is to be well out of the top 25 next year.""
