Reward Established in Cold Case Homicide

(Hartford) -  On January 26, 1995 at 11:14 p.m., officers of the Hartford Police Department were dispatched to the Blue Hills Cafe at 1327 Albany Avenue on the report of shots fired.  Upon arrival officers learned that Bryant Walker, age 45 of Hartford, and Kenneth Brown, age 26 of Bloomfield, had sustained gunshot wounds and were being transported to St. Francis Hospital via private vehicle.  Mr. Walker had sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg for which he was treated and released, and Mr. Brown had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and later died as a result of his injuries.

In May of 2006 the Hartford Police Department in an effort to obtain new leads in the case, presented a request to the State of Connecticut Office of the State's Attorney for a reward to be posted for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

On May 31, the Honorable Governor M. Jodi Rell approved the request and established a reward of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons or persons responsible for Mr. Brown's death and Mr. Walker's injuries.

In an effort to obtain fresh leads in the case, Hartford Police are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact HPD Major Crimes Division Detective Michael Sheldon at (860) 527-7300, extension 5262, the lead investigator in this cold homicide case, or contact the HPD's confidential tip hotline listed above.
