Hartford Police Make Arrests in Two Major Investigations.


(Hartford) - On Wednesday, December 13, 2006, Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division arrested Rashawn Hill, age 25, of 416 Garden, Street, Hartford.  Hill was wanted by Hartford police in connection with an August 17th, 2006, shooting that occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m., at 416 Garden Street and for a robbery with a gun that occurred on that same date at approximately11:00 p.m., at 74 Vineland Terrace.  Detectives captured  Hill, without incident, as he attempted to flee out a rear stairwell on the third floor of 165-167 Martin Street. Charged by Hartford Police with criminal attempt to commit murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal use of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, robbery first degree, burglary with a firearm, larceny second degree, reckless endangerment first degree, and assault first degree, Hill's bond was set at $300,000 pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.  Below is a recent photo of Hill.

In a separate investigation, Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Intelligence Division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, executed a search and seizure warrant at 1883 Broad Street.  As a result of their investigation, Detectives seized 245 bags of Heroin and recovered a Hi-Standard .22 Caliber Revolver with five live rounds.  Charged with storage of firearms and ammunition, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell (PWITS), PWITS within 1,500 feet of a school, and risk of injury was Raymond Marquez, 18, of 232 Jefferson Street, Hartford.  Marquez' bond was set at $500,000 pending arraignment in  Hartford Superior Court.  Below is a recent photo of Marquez.

In commenting on the investigations and arrests, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts praised the work of Major Crimes and Intelligence Division Detectives stating, "The phrase 'closed by arrest' is one of the best phrases in policing.  The closing of these two cases by arrest is the result of months of hard work by HPD Detectives.  Thanks to their hard work and the support of our community partners, Hartford streets are safer today, and, we have the satisfaction of knowing that these two individuals are being brought to justice for their crimes."
