ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT MOISES COUTINHO TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY HARTFORD POLICE FUGITIVE TASK FORCE

(Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Fugitive Task Force have located and taken into custody attempted murder suspect Moises Coutinho, DOB 2/28/1984, of 12 Merrill Street, Hartford, wanted by Hartford Police in connection with an October 2nd, 2007, shooting and robbery at 5 South Whitney Street, Hartford.

Since October 2nd, the Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division had developed a probable cause  case sufficient to obtain an arrest warrant for Coutinho.  The Hartford Police Department Fugitive Task Force, who has been actively tracking Coutinho, contacted American's Most Wanted TV to requesting Coutinho be profiled on the show.  On December 20th, 2007, Major Crimes Detectives received information from a viewer of America's Most Wanted.  That information was used by the HPD's Fugitive Task Force to track Coutinho to a New London shopping center where he was arrested without incident.  During Coutinho's debriefing he provided a confession to detectives and information on the location of the weapon used in the shooting, a .40 caliber pistol, which was consequently located by police under a tree trunk by the Connecticut River in Portland, Connecticut.
