CRIME SOLVERS TIPLINE: 860-527-TIPS NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE MAKE ARRESTS IN TWO HOMICIDES
At approximately 9:30 p.m., on June 17th, 2007, Hartford Police responded to a report of a party shot at 630 Garden Street. On arrival police found Marc Morgan, 28, suffering from a gunshot would to the stomach. Morgan was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 11:20 p.m. As a result of the HPD's ongoing investigation police obtained an arrest warrant for Ricky Lamar Ellis charging him with the murder of Marc Morgan. Ellis was taken into custody by Hartford Police on Tuesday, November 27th, and remains in custody on $1 million bond. At approximately 4:00 a.m. on November 11th, 2007, Hartford police responded to a report of a person shot at 220 Capen Street. On arrival police located Jonathan Arroyo, 25, of 221 Capen Street, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Arroyo was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 4:23 a.m. As a result of the HPD's ongoing investigation into this homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Edgar Soler charging him with the murder of Jonathan Arroyo and with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal use of a firearm. Soler, who was in custody on other narcotics related charges, remains in custody on $2 million. In commenting on the solving of these two homicide cases, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "The arrest of these individuals for these fatal acts of violence sends a strong message to those who would commit these types of crimes in our city that the HPD is dogged in its pursuit of them and that they will be brought to justice to answer for their crimes. The closing of these cases by arrest is a testament to the persistent and coordination between detectives and patrol officers of Hartford Police Department.
