POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS Hartford Police Investigate August 2nd, 2009, Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Hartford) - On Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 2:00am Hartford Police, Fire and EMS were called to the intersection of Windsor Street and Loomis Street for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Officers found that a 2006 Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle collided with a 2006 Ford F-150. A second motorcycle, a 2006 Yamaha R6, lost control and slid on its side but did not contact the truck. The motorcycle that collided with the truck was operated by a 41 year old male whose identity is not being released pending family notifications. The male operator of the Suzuki was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Ford F-150 was operated by a Jeffrey Rodriguez, 41 years of age from Hartford. Rodriguez was transported to Saint Francis Hospital where he was treated and released. The second motorcycle was operated by a Sherwayne Daniels, 27 years of age from East Hartford. Daniels was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was treated and released. The Crime Scene Division was called in and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Evidence at the scene suggests that Mr. Rodriguez was operating the Ford F-150 north on Windsor Street and initiated a left turn to enter westbound Loomis Street. The two motorcycles were traveling south on Windsor Street when both observed the truck entering into a turning maneuver. Daniels attempted to stop and subsequently laid his bike on its side and it slid to a stop. The operator of the Suzuki was unable to stop or avoid the turning vehicle and collided with the front end of the truck. The operator of the Suzuki was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the crash. The speed of the motorcycle is a factor in the crash.
