CALL HARTFORD CRIME STOPPERS at 860-722-TIPS (8477) NEWS RELEASE Motor Vehicle Fatality Identified Hartford - On Friday, February 6, 2009 at 7:39 am Hartford Police dispatch was notified by Aetna Ambulance that one of their units was involved in a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of New Britain Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. Hartford Police and Fire responded to the scene. Upon arrival, members of the Aetna Ambulance unit were treating the occupant of a 1994 Mazda Protégé. The operator of the Mazda, later identified as Ana Burgos, 72 years of age of Hartford, was transported to Hartford Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Preliminary information gathered from witnesses and scene evidence suggests that the Aetna Ambulance was traveling west on New Britain Avenue with its emergency lights and siren activated. Mrs. Burgos was operating the Mazda south on Zion Street onto Fairfield Avenue and proceeded into the intersection of New Britain Avenue. The Ambulance collided with the Mazda as it passed through the intersection. The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The victim has been identified as Ana I. Burgos of 23 Ward Place, Apartment 108, Hartford. The Aetna Ambulance operator has been identified as Eric S. Veilleux.
