NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE INVESTIGATE
HIT AND RUN OF SCHOOL BUS Hartford - Members of the Hartford Police Department's Patrol Division are investigating an early morning hit and run accident wherein a vehicle, apparently fleeing State Police, rear-ended a school bus at Capitol Avenue and Forest Street in Hartford. At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning Hartford Police responded to a report of an accident involving a school bus at Capitol Avenue and Forest Street. On arrival State Police were on the scene indicating the vehicle, a Ford Taurus, had fled from them on I-84 proceeding to Broad Street and Capitol Avenue where State Police disengaged. The evading vehicle, a 1995 Ford Taurus Station Wagon with Massachusetts registration 3YH230, then rear-ended a school bus at Capitol Avenue and Forest Street. The operator, a Black male, subsequently abandoned the car on Forest Street in the vicinity of Hartford Public High School. A ten year old male juvenile suffered a lower back injury as a result of the accident for which he was treated at St. Francis Hospital.
