Suspects in Two HPD Major Crimes Division Investigations in Custody

Hartford - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division have confirmed suspects in two major HPD investigations are in custody.

Last night Arthur Stanley, wanted by Hartford Police in connection with a June 5, 2008, Enfield Street shooting, surrendered to a probation officer with the State of Connecticut Hartford Office of Adult Probation assigned to the United States Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force late last night.  Stanley, 19, of 162 Brook Street, Hartford, has been charged by police with criminal attempt to commit murder, criminal use of a firearm, first degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal use of a firearm and two counts of violation of probation.  He remains in custody on $1.5 million bond.  See related press release with mugshot.

United States Marshals today informed Hartford Police that Daryl Crenshaw, wanted by Hartford Police for the kidnapping and assault of Ashley Peoples and by the Enfield Police on capitol felony murder charges for her subsequent murder, has been located in Mexico.  Hartford Police, searching for Crenshaw since August 7th, 2008, had launched a nation wide media campaign to locate Crenshaw by highlighting him on the America's Most Wanted television show and website and, through a partnership with Lamar Advertising and Hartford Crime Stoppers, posting his photo on digital billboards throughout the Hartford region.  Crenshaw, who awaits extradition to the United States, will be facing capitol felony murder charges in connection with the homicide of Ashley Peoples.  See Darryl Crenshaw on AMW See HPD Wanted Poster.

In commenting on the progress in these two investigations, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts stated, "I  cannot express my deep appreciation to the public for their assistance in these investigations.  Anonymous, confidential tips received through Hartford Crime Stoppers and America's Most Wanted were essential to the identification of these suspects and their ultimate apprehension.  I also wish to commend detectives of the HPD's Major Crimes Division for their relentless investigation leading to the apprehension of these dangerous criminals, America's Most Wanted, Hartford Crime Stoppers and Lamar Advertising.   Due to their actions these criminal will be brought to justice and are no longer a threat to our community.  We are all safer are a result of their actions."
