Thirteen Sex Offenders Arrested in City Wide Warrant Sweep

Hartford - On Thursday, January 22, 2009, Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Juvenile Investigation Division, members of the HPD's Sex Offender Registry Unit, Intelligence Division, and Emergency Response Team, and personnel from the Hartford Offices of Adult Probation and Parole conducted a city wide warrant sweep for sex offenders in violation of State of Connecticut law requiring their registration with the State Sex Offender Registry Unit.  A liaison from the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families also participated in the sweep.

During the coordinated enforcement and investigative effort, with the support of the HPD's Crime Analysis Unit, police utilized GIS mapping to locate offenders in non-compliance with registration requirements.  See Map of Arrest Locations - Hartford Police Sex Offender Warrant Sweep, Thursday, January 22, 2009.

In commenting on the warrant sweep, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "We at the Hartford Police Department take the protection of our citizens very seriously, especially with respect to sexual assault offenses.  Let the message be clear to convicted sex offenders located in Hartford that we will find them and make sure they are in compliance with the law.  I want to commend the HPD's Juvenile Investigative and Intelligence Divisions, our Emergency Response Team and Crime Analysis Unit, and representatives of the State of Connecticut Hartford Offices of Adult Probation and Parole and Department of Children and Families for their efforts in helping make our city safer for us all."
