Hartford Police Make Arrest in Connection with November 11th James Street Shooting

Hartford - Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a November 11th, 2008, shooting that occurred at 69-71 James Street.   Samuel Quiles, DOB 10/27/1983, of 73 Silver Street, Middletown, was taken into custody this afternoon in the vicinity of Exit 24 on I-91 South. 

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on November 11th, HPD patrol officers responded to a report of shots fired on James Street.  A gunshot victim was located on the first floor landing of 69-71 James Street, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right upper thigh area. 

Following a lengthy investigation, detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division obtained an arrest warrant on March 11, 2009  charging Quiles with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault first degree, conspiracy to commit murder and carrying a firearm without a permit in connection with the incident.  A wanted flyer was distributed throughout the area by police, and this afternoon a probation officer spotted Quiles in a vehicle that traveled south on I-91 in Hartford.  With assistance by Wethersfield, Rocky Hill and Connecticut State Police, Quiles was taken into custody without incident by Hartford Police at the Wethersfield/Rocky Hill town line near Exit 24 of I-91 South.
