Reconstruction/Rehabilitation of Broad Street  

From Park Street to Farmington Avenue (State project 63-618)

(June 13, 2006)--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez says the City of Hartford has begun the design of the Reconstruction/Rehabilitation of Broad Street from Park Street to Farmington Avenue. The City, in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Transportation, will hold a public information meeting pertaining to the project on Tuesday June 27^th, 2006 starting at 6:00 P.M.  The meeting will be held at the Soromundi Room of the Hartford YWCA, 135 Broad Street, Hartford, CT. The purpose of the meeting is to inform interested parties about the project.  It is important that the community participate in the meeting and provide feedback to us to assist in the project’s development.

The intent of the first phase of this project is to reconstruct the portion of Broad Street from Park Street to Capitol Avenue. The second phase of the project will be the portion of Broad Street from Capitol Avenue to Farmington Avenue and is expected to be implemented at a future date in conjunction with the proposed New Britain- Hartford Busway.

 The project includes reconstruction and rehabilitation of pavement, new curbing, and various streetscape improvements including decorative lighting, new sidewalks, and crosswalk enhancements.  Additionally, there will be radius improvements and curb realignments to improve turning movements at several intersections including the intersection with Capitol Avenue.
