Mission Statement - The mission of the Assessment Division is to estimate fair market value on all real property, personal property, and motor vehicles, for the purpose of establishing the fair and equitable levy of local property tax.

The Assessor is the local government official responsible for establishing the fair market value on all real  property, personal property and motor vehicles for local property tax purposes.  Property is assessed in each town as of the October 1st assessment date, pursuant to Connecticut General Statute §12-62a

The City implemented a revaluation for the October 1, 2006 Grand List. The City has also elected to Phase-In the new values over the next five (5) years.
