The Community and Small Business Development Division creates and initiates community-based strategies to build strong neighborhoods, enhance economic opportunities, and ensure a dynamic framework for quality growth and community development. Our vision is to create a vibrant, prosperous and growing Hartford through exceptional community development, for families and commerce.
Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA) Through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Hartford's allocated funding for activities providing support for recent immigrants to include ESL classes, access to medical care and direct aid in the form of micro grants, to small businesses with the goal of stabilizing the City’s most distressed neighborhoods, and encouraging economic growth.
Special Events Permitting We manage the approval process for parades, parties, and other cultural events held on public property while protecting the health, safety and public welfare of the general public, event participants, and attendees. Each successful event showcases Hartford’s cultural diversity.
