After you have called 9-1-1 the Community Safety Information Program (CSI) will identify the special needs at the address the Hartford Fire Department is responding to.  At the touch of a button Hartford Fire Department personnel will access information such as residents with physical limitations, the number and location of children with medical conditions and the medications they are taking

The Mobile Data Computer System (M.D.C.S) is an innovative tool that will provide Hartford Fire Department personnel with detailed information about emergency situations and city locations.  The Hartford Fire Department will have a 360 degree view of the structure allowing them to preplan a water supply and the location of  gas and water shut-offs.  It will also utilize aerial maps of city blocks highlighting fire hydrant locations, water mains, and their diameters.  This technology will catapult the H.F.D. into the forefront of twenty-first century firefighting

The city’s dispatch center will use this technology in conjunction with a plasma monitor during all second alarm or greater fires and any other emergencies that require mutual aid from other cities.  It will give Hartford Fire Department personnel the ability to coordinate efforts with mutual aid companies in locating addresses, identifying buildings and hydrant locations.  By sharing this information it will allow for interoperability of mutual aid companies who respond to the City of Hartford.  This will enable those companies to respond to emergencies more efficiently.   It will also give the Hartford Fire Department the ability to locate the street address during mutual aid to other cities.

The mobile data computers will be an invaluable tool used at water emergencies.  In unfortunate events such as flooding of city neighborhoods this technology will enable the Hartford Fire Department to navigate through flooded areas and locate buildings, landmarks and other points of concern that have been submerged.  The Mobile Data Computer System will help the Hartford Fire Department pinpoint rescue boat operations on the Connecticut River.
