Although
the Hartford Fire Department was incorporated in
1864, it was actually founded in 1789. The year it
was founded, each man was paid a shilling and six
pence per day. Throughout the 218 year history of
this great organization, there have been
approximately 2,000 people who served. 3 men served
for more than 50 years.
The following pages are
designed to pay tribute to those former members
whose record we could find.
