John V. Bazzano is a life long resident of the city of Hartford. He was elected to the Court of Common Council in November, 2003. He currently serves as Council President. He is Chairman of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and member of the Management and Budget, Finance and Revenue, Public Works, Parks and Environment and Quality of Life and Public Safety Committees. He also served as Chairman of the City of Hartford’s Quality of Life Policy Task Force, formed to develop recommendations to the Mayor and the Court of Common Council on strengthening city ordinances, public policies and procedures that contribute to the enhancement of Hartford’s quality of life.

Previously, John served as Chief of Staff to former Mayor, Michael P. Peters, where he advised the Mayor on City operations and budget, as well as state and national issues. John focused on economic development programs assisting several new businesses in Hartford. He also maintained relationships with key government and business leaders throughout the State.

 John was born and raised in the city of Hartford and lives in the Southend. John graduated from the University of Hartford where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. John has been active in the Hartford community all his adult life. He has served on a number of boards and commissions with the intent of improving the quality of life for all Hartford residents. John is on the Board of Directors of the South Hartford Initiative, serving as its Treasurer.

 

As a father, John’s primary focus is ensuring that Hartford’s children are afforded every opportunity to succeed. He is committed to making sure that Hartford schools continue to improve and our neighborhoods flourish as safe and healthy places to learn and grow.
