Mission: The mission of the Central Grants Administration is to establish guidelines for departments in the identification, application, administration and reporting of grants from various external sources to supplement and enhance the goals and objectives of the City of Hartford.
Responsibilities: Working collaboratively with each city department, the Central Grants Administration actively pursues grant opportunities to supplement and enhance the goals and objectives established by policy leaders of the City. All grant application, approval and administration of city grants is coordinated through the Central Grants Administration.
Central Grants Administration also secures, manages and administers HUD entitlement grants including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) and the Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA). It also manages other federal and state grant and loan agreements and community development projects. Central Grants Administration staff administers fiscal oversight for entitlement programs and other grants awarded to more than 80 community-based organizations, non-profit agencies and city departments.
Most importantly, the Central Grants Administration ensures funds are used appropriately in accordance with stringent local, state and federal regulations.
