The United States Environmental Protection Agency provides many publications with regards to lead that can be very helpful to landlords, contractors, and families. Three of these are: Lead in Your Home: A Parent's Reference Guide, Protect Your Family from Lead in Your Home, and Reducing Lead Hazards When Remodeling Your Home. The Connecticut Department of Public Health provides numerous educational pamphlets and other materials regarding lead-based paint in Connecticut. They are also leading Connecticut's Keep it Clean campaign that targets paint and hardware stores to help keep renovation lead safe. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development helps several municipalities, including ours, battle lead and lead poisoning. To find out more about HUD, click here.
St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford runs the Lead Safe House in Hartford. The Lead Safe House provides shelter for families affected by lead poisoning while they are trying to find new housing, or while their current housing is being abated.
