**Those interested in applying for WIC request that their medical provider complete a "WIC Certification Form" for either the woman or the child before the first visit to the WIC Program.  Call the WIC program for more information.

The program provides nutrition information, counseling, and specific foods such as milk, cheese, eggs, iron-fortified cereals, 100% juices, peanut butter, dry beans and peas. WIC program services include nutritional evaluations, and consultation and general nutrition information on a variety of nutrition topics related to the needs of the clients served.  Nutrition education is supplemented by WIC food checks to help assure that eligible participants can purchase the proper foods that are needed.  WIC checks are issued by the program in monthly allotments, for one to three months at each visit, and are redeemed in authorized grocery stores for specific foods so that a prescribed "food package" is provided to the participant. The USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans can be viewed at the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion homepage.
