Senior Centers

Multi-purpose senior centers’ located throughout Hartford where adults 55 years and older can join together in diverse activities and services. Centers’ provide a resource of information for maintaining independence. Seniors can gain information on in-home assistance, health insurance and claims assistance, transportation services, home-delivered meals, volunteer and job training programs, cultural events, health and wellness educational classes, recreational activities, group meals and intergenerational programming.

Homehelp Program

Home Help Services are available to assist individuals 60 years and older who have functional and physical impairments with their essential daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, laundry and other non-personal care activities to keep individuals safe in their homes. Renter's Rebate Program

A state program which rebates a percentage of rent paid yearly to individuals 65 years or older and disabled individuals over the age of 18 who meet disability requirements. For more information call (860) 757-4736.

Dial-A-Ride

This is a transportation service for residents of Hartford 60 years and older and/or any adult resident over the age of 18 who has a permanent disability. Trips are restricted to within city limits to medical appointments, grocery shuttle and senior center’s. For more information call (860) 757-4724.

Grandparents Program

The Grandparents Program provides services to grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. Services include information and referral, bi-lingual support groups, case management, family-centered parenting education and the grandparent kinship fund. Grandparents learn the differences in guardianship options and supplemental supports. For more information call (860) 757-4724.

Community Court

A social support program for defendants required to perform community services for misdemeanor violations at the Community Court. Support services include case management, life coaching, information and referral services to job training, supplemental subsidies, drug/alcohol treatment and educational training. McKinney Homeless Shelter

Emergency temporary housing for homeless men 18 years and older. Priority for admission will be given to Hartford residents. Case management, drug/alcohol treatment, information and referral services and assistance with obtaining permanent housing is provided. For more information call (860) 757-0661.

No Freeze Program

This program provides temporary shelter and outreach services to homeless men in order to minimize the risk presented by extreme winter weather conditions for the period of Dec 1 - Mar 30. For more information please call (860) 757-4724.
