Hartford Commission on Disability Issues

The Commission on Disability Issues acts to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities living in or visiting the City of Hartford.

Commissioners

Benita Toussaint is a Commissioner on Disability Issues with the City of Hartford's Election Process, a CCD Teacher with the Cathedral of St. Joseph, serves on the North Central Regional Mental Health Board and advocates for persons with Mental Health and other addiction issues.

Lady Toussaint was recognized for the Volunteer efforts, on June 28th, 2006, she wounded up being nominated and presented with the Connie Johnson Award for the year 2006.  In 2005 she wanted to infuse empowerment socially and economically into persons in recovery program.  The pilot was established in May 2005, in collaboration with the Center, North Central Regional Mental Health Board and various other non-profit service organizations.  The program is ongoing and she hopes it will attain a clearing house status for people in recovery and their families
