An abandoned building at 393 Homestead Avenue is being remediated as funds are sought to demolition the structure and prepare the site for redevelopment.

The Division of Blight Remediation, known as the Blight Remediation Team (BRT), leads the City’s efforts to eliminate blight in Hartford.  BRT enforces the City’s new Anti-Blight & Property-Maintenance Program.  BRT targets privately and publicly owned residential, commercial, and industrial properties that have become vacant, abandoned, foreclosed, or deteriorated and are negatively impacting the quality of life in Hartford’s neighborhoods.

BRT consists of two units: (1) Inspections, and (2) Enforcement.  The Inspections Unit has two inspectors.  BRT works very closely with other City departments, including the Department of Public Works and the Department of Health and Human Services to respond to and abate nuisances such as graffiti, litter, and illegal dumping.

Through its work BRT is committed to improving the quality of life of all Hartford residents and to working with those homeowners and tenants most in need.

To report blight contact 311.
