What is GIS?

Geographic Information Systems, GIS, is a digital mapping system that allows for data to be created and maintained at a geographic location.  This geographic data is stored in a database and can be accessed by anyone in the City of Hartford either by using GIS software installed on a computer or over an internet connection.
