The South End neighborhood grew rapidly after World War I when land was subdivided and developed. The South End is a stable community with attractive residential areas and viable commercial corridors. Franklin Ave. is a major corridor in the neighborhood. Goodwin Park is an important neighborhood asset. It is a grand, country park which includes a 27 hole golf course. Goodwin Park is one of seven major parks that form Hartford's park system.
