Friday

 

6:00 p.m.--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez will attend a parent/teacher meeting to wish students well for an educational trip to the Washington D.C. area that will emphasize history and culture.  More than 40 students with the Eugene Green Institute at Lewis Fox Middle School (an all boys academy at Fox Middle) will tour Historically Black Colleges as well as other educational sites later this month.  Plans for the trip will be outlined at this meeting that will take place at Fox Middle, 305 Greenfield Street in Hartford’s Upper Albany neighborhood.

 

Saturday

 

11:00 a.m.--- Stand up for Healthcare!  Mayor Perez will welcome the thousands of people who are expected to attend this rally sponsored by healthcare4every1.  The rally addresses the growing concern regarding rising heath care costs.  This major event takes place at Bushnell Park in Downtown Hartford.

 

12:00 p.m.--- Mayor and Mrs. Perez will reflect upon the blessed service of Dr. King Hayes and Doris Hayes as Shiloh Baptist Church honors them at their retirement celebration.  The new pastor-elect and his wife, Rev. Charles E. and Markesha Turner will also be in attendance.  The Shiloh Baptist Church congregation of the Clay Arsenal neighborhood played a prominent role in the Mayor’s Volunteers of Faith Church Tour last summer.  The retirement event takes place at La Renaissance, 53 Prospect Hill Road, in East Windsor.

 

7:00 p.m.--- Education = Empowerment.  Mayor Perez will praise scholarship winners.  The Portuguese Foundation is holding its 16th Annual Banquet, which is being held at Our Lady of Fatima Community Center, Fatima Square in the City’s Parkville neighborhood.

 

8:15 p.m.--- Celebrate a journey through time!  Mayor Perez will help honor Keith Carr as the West Indian Foundation pays tribute to his distinguished community service.  This retirement salute takes place at the West Indian American Centre, 3340 Main Street, in Hartford’s Northeast neighborhood.
