MAYOR PEREZ FINDS COMMON THEME IN DIVERSE EVENTS
---NEWS ADVISORY FOR MAY 12TH, 13TH, AND 14TH---
Saturday
9:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez welcomes and thanks neighborhood leaders, youth, and police for getting together to have a community dialogue. “Community Conversation and Education: Youth and Police Interaction takes place at Weaver High School, 415 Granby Street in the Blue Hills neighborhood.
7:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will be honored for his commitment to Hartford firefighters. The ceremony will take place during the Society of Latin American Firefighters Awards Banquet at The U.S.S Chowder Pot IV, 165 Brainard Road in the City’s South Meadows neighborhood.
9:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will attend the Trust House Annual Gala. The Trust House Family Learning Center specializes in helping parents, especially those with young children. The Gala will be held in the Gershon Fox Room, 960 Main Street in Downtown Hartford.
10:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez and Rebuilding Together will be featured on “Crossroads Magazine” to demonstrate the importance of neighbors helping neighbors. The Office of Radio and Television at the Archdiocese of Hartford produces the show that airs Saturday night on WCTX, MyTV 9 and then repeats at 10:30 a.m. on WTXX, CW20. 10:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will help dedicate Father De Silva Way in honor of the man who was the spiritual leader of the Portuguese-American community for five decades. Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. The formal dedication will be at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Madison Avenue in the Parkville neighborhood.
Monday
4:00 p.m.--- Hartford makes history! Mayor Perez and Chief Charles Teale Sr. will preside over the promotion of Captain Carol Stiles as the first female Deputy Chief in the Hartford Fire Department’s 218-year history. Captain Stiles began her career with the HFD in 1987. The ceremony takes place at the Old State House on Main Street in Downtown Hartford.
