MAYOR PEREZ APPLAUDS

 LINCOLN NATIONAL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY’S

 COMMITMENT TO HARTFORD

---NEWS RELEASE---

(January 25, 2007)---Calling it “a strong investment and belief in Hartford’s future,” Mayor Eddie A. Perez is pleased that Lincoln National Life Insurance Company has agreed to renew its lease at Metro Center in Downtown Hartford, retaining about 700 jobs.  The five-year extension for the 190,000 square feet of rentable space was made ahead of schedule.

Mayor Perez says, “This lease renewal demonstrates Lincoln’s commitment to Hartford’s renaissance and to maintaining and growing jobs in the city.  Strong corporate partners, like the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, help attract top notch talent as well as continue to spur more economic development in all of our neighborhoods.”

This strong economic show of faith in Hartford comes on the heels of Aetna’s announcement of bringing 3400 jobs to the city by 2010 and its construction of a new 1200-space parking garage.  Also, St. Paul Travelers has recently announced that it will create 500 jobs in the Capital City.

Mayor Perez says, “Jobs are essential to Hartford’s growth.  With commitments like this, we can secure our future as the Insurance City.”
