Sunday, February 11th
1:15 p.m.--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez will present a proclamation to Willie O’Ree, the first Black to break the color-barrier in the NHL. This presentation will be part of his welcoming remarks at the Grand Opening of the Community Sports Complex at 175 New Britain Avenue in Hartford’s Barry Square neighborhood. (There is an entrance of New Britain Avenue and another entrance on Broad Street). Mayor Perez will praise Mr. O’Ree for “scoring a big goal in history” and congratulate Trinity College for putting Hartford families first.
Monday, February 12th
Please note that the City of Hartford observes Lincoln’s Birthday. City Hall will be closed for the holiday and all trash, waste, and recycling collections will be delayed a day.
Tuesday, February 13th
10:30 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will join St. Representative Kelvin Roldan in recognizing the contributions of Hispanic Veterans. A news conference will take place at the Legislative Office Building (LOB) followed by testimony in support of HB 5799. (The room is yet to be determined). The bill would establish an Advocate for Hispanic Affairs within the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to help serve the growing number of Hispanic Veterans in Hartford and throughout the state.
7:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez has asked for a point of personal privilege at the City Council meeting. The Mayor will present citations to the coaches of the Hartford Hurricanes, congratulating the youth football team for a successful season. The Mayor and Council will also present a proclamation to Timothy Otte of Timothy’s Restaurant on Zion Street. Mr. Otte is retiring after 32-years of business.
