 HIGHLIGHT MAYOR PEREZ’S EVENTS

 FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 10TH 

 

---NEWS ADVISORY---

 

8:00 a.m. --- Mayor Eddie A. Perez will present a proclamation to John Kim, President of Prudential Retirement, for his ongoing commitment and investment in the City of Hartford when it comes to growing jobs in the Capital City.  The Mayor will address the importance of raising educational standards and expectations so that Hartford residents can compete for these jobs.  The honor will be given during the University of Hartford’s Fourth Annual Red and White Breakfast.  This event will take place at the Polytechnic Club, 1 State Street (20th Floor) in Downtown Hartford.

 

11:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez joins U.S. Congressman John Larson for the debut of New England’s First Fuel Cell Bus.  Mayor Perez will talk about other ways Hartford is being energy efficient including making the new Public Safety Complex a “Green Building.”  The bus will be on display at the Connecticut Convention Center on Columbus Boulevard in Downtown Hartford.

 

1:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will speak before the State Judiciary Committee in support of bills that require gun owners to report lost or stolen weapons.  Senate Bills 903 and 904 and House Bill 6901 are currently being discussed.  Hartford Police retrieved 500 illegal guns last year alone and 93% of them came from out of town.  Testimony will be held in Room 1E at the Legislative Office Building.

 

6:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez continues to take his State of the City Address to the neighborhoods of Hartford.  This next stop is at the Salvation Army at 100 Nelson Street in the Northeast section of the City.  Public Safety, education, jobs, homeownership, and neighborhood economic development will all be topics of discussion.  The Mayor presented his address back on March 12th.  Since then, he has talked to folks in the Blue Hills, South End, West End, and now the Northeast neighborhoods.

 

7:30 p.m.--- Traffic Calming will be the topic of discussion as Mayor Perez attends the WECA General Meeting.  This public discussion will take place at the United Methodist Church, 571 Farmington Avenue, in the City’s West End.
