MAYOR PEREZ FOCUSES ON EMPOWERMENT

9:45 a.m. --- Mayor Eddie A. Perez says education can help break the cycle of poverty.  The Mayor will make his remarks at the Connecticut Association for Community Action Symposium on Poverty.  Mayor Perez believes that education = empowerment.  Hartford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven Adamowski will also address the approximately 150 people gathered at the Bushnell, 166 Capitol Avenue in Downtown Hartford.

12:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will welcome acclaimed author Isabel Allende as guest speaker at the YWCA’s 12^th Annual “In the Company of Women” Luncheon.  Ms. Allende will then provide inspirational words of empowerment to the more than 1500 women who are expected to attend this event at the Connecticut Convention Center on Columbus Boulevard in Downtown Hartford.
