MENTORING HARTFORD YOUTH

IN SPOTLIGHT OF MAYOR’S EVENTS

---NEWS ADVISORY FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 24^TH---

2:15 p.m. --- Mayor Eddie A. Perez applauds youth helping youth!  The Weaver-Twain Mentoring Program is a pilot-project that links Weaver High School students with youngsters at Mark Twain Elementary.  The Mayor will learn more about how the students work in pairs in regards to homework and reading.  Mayor Perez will encourage the students to continue to provide positive role models for one another.  This event takes place at Mark Twain Elementary, 395 Lyme Street, in Hartford’s Blue Hills neighborhood.

6:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will preview his proposed budget to members of the Court of Common Council, the Board of Education and to the community.  The hearing has been assigned in accordance with the Municipal Code and will air live on Hartford Government Cable Access Channel 21.  Mayor Perez will highlight investments in public safety and youth services.  The public hearing will be held at Bulkeley High School Auditorium, 300 Wethersfield Avenue, in the City’s Barry Square neighborhood.
