---NEWS ADVISORY FOR 5/3/07---
8:30 a.m.--- Mayor Perez thanks volunteers for helping more Hartford families claim, invest, and save money through the Earned Income Tax Credit. Approximately 100 people will be recognized at the annual breakfast. The push for a State EITC continues. New numbers regarding how this federal program helps local families will be unveiled. The event is at Mi Casa Family Services, 590 Park Street, in the Frog Hollow neighborhood.
12:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez joins local religious leaders for The National Day of Prayer. Mayor Perez will praise government workers for striving to improve customer service for residents and visitors. The ceremony takes place at Burr Mall (between City Hall and the Wadsworth Atheneum) on Main Street in Downtown Hartford.
1:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez salutes World War II veterans! Four Polish Air Force Veterans who served in combat in England will be honored for their heroism as part of the Kosciuszko Squadron. The recognition highlights the Polish Cultural Club of Greater Hartford Luncheon at the Polish National Home, 60 Charter Oak Avenue, in the Sheldon-Charter Oak neighborhood.
1:45 p.m.--- Hartford Means Business! Mayor Perez takes a look, listen, and learn tour of PSI Hartford. This pre-sort mail facility works with some of Hartford’s largest companies and is a strong neighborhood employer. The Mayor will see workers in action as they help sort 700 million pieces of mail each year. The facility is located at 101 Locust Street in the South Meadows neighborhood.
4:00 p.m.--- Community Service Matters! Mayor Perez applauds the commitment of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Volunteers have helped build homes and mentor students in Hartford. Their dedication will be honored at a reception in Bruyette Athenaeum at St. Joseph College, 1678 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford.
5:30 p.m.--- Engaging Parents in Education! Mayor Perez will address the PTO at Bellizzi School. The Mayor will talk about the importance of parental involvement in a child’s educational future and how education opens the door of opportunity. Bellizzi School is located at 215 South Street in Hartford’s South End.
6:45 p.m.--- Honoring Our Past, Embracing Our Present, Defining Our Future! Mayor Perez echoes this year’s theme of the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s Connecticut Chapter. The awards ceremony emphasizes academic and professional excellence and takes place at The Hartford Club in Downtown Hartford.
