MAYOR PEREZ WORKS TO EMPOWER

 FAMILIES, COMMUNITIES AND BUSINESSES

 

--NEWS ADVISORY FOR MAY 17---

 

1:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez and the Hartford Business Improvement District unveil the “Safe and Clean Team.”  The HBID’s new security and cleaning ambassador program--- with the full support of Mayor Perez and City Council--- will work to make Downtown Hartford and Asylum Hill neighborhoods safer, cleaner, and more attractive.  The event takes place in front of Hartford 21 and the Hartford Civic Center on Trumbull Street in Downtown Hartford.

 

4:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez congratulates students, American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Connecticut, and local food banks for building a better tomorrow at the 6th Annual “Canstruction” event.  Approximately 300 students, architects, teachers and parents will build architectural designs by using cans and non-perishable food items that will then be donated to local food banks.  This very visual event takes place at the Connecticut Convention Center on Columbus Boulevard in Downtown Hartford.

 

5:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez helps JCJ Architecture, Inc. celebrate making Hartford home!  The company will receive a special citation in recognition of 70 years in business.  The event takes place at 38 Prospect Street in Downtown Hartford.

 

7:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will greet members and visitors of Victory Cathedral Church.  This is to celebrate its 1st Annual Connecticut State Conference.  The church is located at 185 Bellevue Street in Hartford’s Clay Arsenal neighborhood.

 

8:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez thanks the Salvation Army for supporting Hartford families.  The Mayor will also be recognized for his service to the community by receiving the “Others” Award--- the highest civil award given by this organization.  The Soup, Soap, and Salvation Fundraiser is part of National Salvation Army Week and takes place in the Bond Ballroom, 338 Asylum Street in Downtown Hartford.
