(May 29, 2007)--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez has issued the following statement as Hartford remembers Charles Nelson Reilly, the actor/comedian who passed away over the holiday weekend:

“Charles Nelson Reilly wasn’t born in Hartford, but his heart was always here.  He grew up on Enfield Street in the City’s North End and he was a survivor of the Hartford Circus Fire.  Perhaps the zany antics he developed for his roles on television and on stage were to hide the tears of that fateful day.  No matter what, he found a way to make the world smile for more than 50 years.  We thank him for the laughter.”
