HARTFORD CELEBRATES CARIBBEAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
---NEWS AND COMMUNITY ADVISORY---
WHAT: Caribbean American Heritage Fair
WHEN: June 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
WHERE: City Hall Atrium and Burr Mall, 550 Main Street in Downtown Hartford
June 2007 marks the first anniversary of Caribbean American Heritage Month in the United States. During this time, we celebrate the great contributions of Caribbean Americans to the establishment of our community, our city and our nation. On June 7th, Mayor Eddie A. Perez and Councilwoman Veronica Airey-Wilson invite you to a cultural showcase to honor diversity and heritage. Celebrate the friendship between the United States and the Caribbean countries through music, food, and performance.
The City of Hartford believes that a day set-aside for recognition of Caribbean-Americans will serve as a platform for highlighting the many contributions people of Caribbean descent have made to influence American culture. For centuries, Caribbean Americans have enriched our society and added to the strength of America. They have been leaders in government, sports, education, business, entertainment, the arts, and many other fields. Their story is rich in history and warrants our attention and celebration.
For more details on the event, please contact Lillian Ruiz, at (860) 543-8595.
We look forward to celebrating this national proclamation with Hartford families!
