SENIORS, SAFETY, AND THE SWEET SOUNDS OF JAZZ

HEADLINE MAYOR PEREZ’S PUBLIC EVENTS

 

---NEWS ADVISORY FOR MONDAY, JULY 9, 2007---

 

10:00 a.m.--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez announces that construction will begin at the new Maple Avenue Police Substation and Senior Center.  This substation will help residents put a face to the names of the men and women of the HPD who are serving their community and seniors will soon be able to have increased access to information thanks to a computer center and a health center located at this facility.  The event will be held at 830 Maple Avenue in the City’s South End.

 

7:45 p.m.--- Mayor Perez helps celebrate the 40th anniversary of Monday Night Jazz.  The concert series attracts top musical names as well as aspiring artists.  This is the longest running free jazz concert series in the nation.  Nearly 50,000 people from all over the northeast to enjoy the shows each year.  The Mayor will present a proclamation to kick off this year’s musical celebration that takes place at Bushnell Park in Downtown Hartford.
