PLAZA MAYOR:  LATEST REDEVELOPMENT DISCUSSION

---NEWS ADVISORY---

(November 9, 2006)--- On Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 5:00 p.m., the Hartford Redevelopment Agency will consider granting initial approval for the Plaza Mayor development at the corner of Park and Main Streets in Hartford’s South Green neighborhood.

Plaza Mayor, LLC, a partnership of A&Co., and the Solaris Group, has proposed a mixed-use development that will include 30 townhouse style condominiums, 30,000 square feet of retail space, and a 10,000 square foot banquet venue.  All of this will surround a public plaza to be known as “Plaza Mayor.”  The project is expected to cost about $28 million to construct and will serve as a gateway to Park Street, the region’s premiere Latino shopping district.

Back in October of 2005, Plaza Mayor, LLC was selected as the tentative developer for the 2.25 acre land, following a Request of Proposals process.

Mayor Eddie A. Perez says, “The City, through its Redevelopment Agency, and the Plaza Mayor development team, have worked very hard and have made significant progress in advancing this important proposal.  I am pleased with the project’s design and how it will link Park Street with the South Green area. I see it as a catalyst for further investment and revitalization.”

Following action by the Redevelopment Agency, the project will be forwarded to the Court of Common Council for its consideration.

The Hartford Redevelopment Agency’s meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the plaza level conference center, located at 260 Constitution Plaza in Downtown Hartford.
