MAYOR PEREZ PRAISES HARTFORD FIREFIGHTERS
---NEWS RELEASE---
(July 9, 2007)--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez has words of praise for the Hartford Fire Department as they fought both blazes and scorching temperatures:
Mayor Perez says, “Our firefighters are part of our front line of defense. Everyday, they race into trouble and uncertainty when others run out. This weekend’s fires and hot weather tested their skills, endurance, and our resources. However, the HFD has once again faced these challenges and risen to the occasion. They showed courage, strength, and dedication--- above and beyond the call of duty--- and they did so with no injuries.”
Mayor Perez adds, “I also want to thank our neighboring communities for assisting us during these heightened circumstances. Hartford has always assisted you, with manpower, equipment, and moral support as part of our regional strength. Resources are strong because of the mutual aid agreement. Thanks for demonstrating to the state that the firefighter bond is so committed.”
Most of the residents affected by the weekend fires have been allowed to return home. Those who have not are receiving help from the American Red Cross.
