FRONT STREET FUN!

---NEWS RELEASE---

Mayor Eddie A. Perez welcomes residents and visitors alike to Front Street on July 19th and 20th for food, fun, and entertainment.  Mayor Perez says, “This event is a great way to connect the Riverfront, conventioneers, and everyone who lives and works in Hartford to celebrate the Capital City’s Renaissance.”

Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority are visiting New England’s Rising Star for their conference that focuses on personal and professional growth.  Mayor Perez says, “Let’s show off our hospitality as the host city by featuring our diverse culture through our talented vendors and entertainers and our tasty treats.  This is a growing city with a proud history and an exciting future.”

This special event will take place on Front Street at Adriaen’s Landing between Prospect Street and Columbus Boulevard (directly across from the Connecticut Convention Center).  The lunchtime fun is 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday (July 19 and 20).  The after work fun goes from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Front Street is the retail, residential and entertainment part of the Adriaen’s Landing development.  Construction is set to begin this fall.  Mayor Perez says, “Soon, the Connecticut Science Center and Front Street will be added to the jewels of Hartford’s crown.  Others include the Hilton Hotel, the Marriott Hotel, the Connecticut Convention Center, the expansion of the Wadsworth Atheneum, the renovation of the Hartford Public Library’s Main Branch, and let’s not forget our historic Municipal Building.  Top that off with 93 new restaurants and entertainment venues throughout the City--- as well as new residential units like Hartford 21 and Temple Street--- and you’ll see hope and opportunity at every corner.”

Special note:  The lower portion of Front Street will be closed to traffic from Tuesday evening, July 17th until Friday evening July 20th.  Constitution Way and the upper end of Front Street will remain open to allow access to Arch Street and the Travelers/Phoenix parking garage.
