HARTFORD’S YOUTH COMES FIRST
NEWS ADVISORY FOR AUGUST 1ST
9:15 a.m.--- Hartford students will be congratulated for practicing teamwork as well as exercising their minds and their bodies this summer to help make them more focused students in the fall. Mayor Eddie A. Perez will thank participants of the Bank of America Annual Youth Baseball Clinic. As many as 150 boys and girls, ages 8-14, took part in the summer event. The ceremony will be held at Colt Park in the City’s Sheldon Charter Oak neighborhood.
6:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez praises the Artists Collective on the 37th Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program. “World of Work” gives young people the opportunity to learn and showcase skills that will help them succeed in life. The Office of Youth Services helped fund the program as part of the Mayor’s initiative to provide positive opportunities for Hartford youth. The event, including a performance by the students, will be held at the Artists Collective, 1200 Albany Avenue in the City’s Upper Albany neighborhood.
