HARTFORD PUTS SAFETY FIRST

MAYOR PEREZ’S PUBLIC EVENTS

---UPDATED NEWS ADVISORY FOR AUGUST 7---

10:40 a.m.--- Mayor Eddie Perez and Chief Charles Teale, Sr. will thank the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association and Best Friends Pet Care, Inc. for donating 20 specially designed pet oxygen masks.  This is part of the “Cause of Paws” campaign.  HFD worked to secure the masks after a summer fire on Vine Street in which a cat was resuscitated.  The presentation and demonstration will be made at the Hartford Training Academy, 1 Fischer Road, in the City’s North Meadows neighborhood.

5:00 p.m.--- It’s the 24th Annual National Night Out!  Mayor Perez will travel to four neighborhood gatherings that will demonstrate the importance of the community continuing to work together and work with police to make our neighborhoods safer and more vibrant.

     The Mayor’s approximate schedule:

1.      Tuscan Homes Block Watch on Montville Street, off of North Main Street in the Northeast neighborhood (5 p.m.)

2.      Clay Hill National Night Out in Lozada Playground on Mather Street (5:30 p.m.)

3.      Blue Hills Recreational Center National Night Out, 9 Lebanon Street (6 p.m.)

4.      Upper Albany Neighborhood Collaborative will hold its event at the corner of Albany Avenue and Adams Street (6:30 p.m.)

Due to the expected extreme heat, Mayor Perez and the City of Hartford will once again be handing out bottled water to help keep our friends and neighbors hydrated.
