MAYOR PEREZ’S PUBLIC EVENTS
---NEWS ADVISORY FOR AUGUST 11, 12, AND 13---
Saturday, August 11th
11:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez steps out with the West Indian Day Parade. Marchers will gather at 10:30 a.m. Hartford is proud to be home to one of the largest West Indian populations in the country. The parade starts at the corner of Albany Avenue and Main Street in the City’s Clay Arsenal neighborhood.
Sunday, August 12th
9:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will present a special citation to help celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The church is located at 2 F.D. Oates Avenue in the City’s Northeast neighborhood.
4:30 p.m.--- Back to School basics at the “Back-To-School-Jam!” Mayor Perez will attend this event to get students ready to get back to class! It is sponsored by and will take place at Beauty Galore Hair Salon, 147 Homestead Avenue in the Upper Albany neighborhood.
5:00 p.m.--- HartBeat Ensemble’s 2nd Annual “Plays in the Parks” Series. Through the Arts, people can focuses on what can be done to end homelessness. Three plays will be held in Hartford. The Mayor, who commissioned leaders to end chronic homelessness in Greater Hartford by 2015, will attend the show at Keney Park at the Woodland and Greenfield Street entrance.
Monday, August 13th
11:30 a.m.--- Mayor Perez and Chief Roberts praise the progress of Neighborhood Policing at the Hartford Police Department Promotion Ceremony. Eight brave men and women will be recognized for their leadership and dedication to service and to their community. The ceremony takes place at the Hilton Hartford Hotel, 315 Trumbull Street in Downtown Hartford.
